Japanese Beauty Secrets From The Inside Out

Japanese women generally are beautiful, healthy, long-lived, lean, and have beautiful skin.

They are well known to have some of the longest life expectancies in the world, which many attribute to the Japanese diet. But what is less well known is that Japanese women have the lowest rates of obesity (only 2.9%) in modern cultures.

Find out how Japanese stay beautiful from the inside out.

The Japanese diet consists of high protein, low-fat, low sugar, and is rich in antioxidants. Dairy and bread are not part of the diet.  The Japanese consume about five times the amount of cruciferous vegetables as the average westerner.

Typical Japanese Diet Plan

breakfast
In Japan breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day and is often the largest. A typical Japanese breakfast consists of  green tea, rice, vegetables, egg, fish or miso soup. Miso soup is soy based which is rich in antioxidants. Green tea is also rich in antioxidants and there is no sugar added to the tea.

green tea

The drink of choice is green tea either hot or cold. They drink about 4-6 cups a day.

dinner
Dinner typically consists of: rice, miso soup (sometimes with mussels), sushi, and a ton of veggies. The drink of choice is usually water, green tea, or some type of wheat based drink, all sugar free. Followed by fruit as desert or Japanese sweets.

soy
The Japanese eat a lot of soy products such as miso, tofu and tempeh.

sweets
Japanese sweets aren't typical sweets. These sweets are usually made out of beans. The sweets are both healthy, rich in protein and satisfy your sweet tooth.

natto
Natto is fermented soy beans. This is a very popular snack.  It's typically eaten with rice or on toast. Natto is the equivalent of peanut butter. While, many Westerners like to spread peanut butter on everything: toast, apples, etc. The Japanese prefer to eat soy beans. It's low fat and rich in antioxidants.

seafood
Sushi, salmon, and other seafood is ridiculously cheap in Japan compared to the United States. Beef and chicken are more expensive than seafood. As a result, most families don't eat beef or chicken very often.

seaweed
The Japa
nese are very fond of seaweed and this is probably another reason why they have a better health record than Western populations. Ingredients in seaweed, known as alginates, can bind heavy metal toxins, such as lead and cadmium in the intestines, and remove them from the body. The Japanese eat many seaweeds including: wakame, nori, konbu, and hijiki.

Japanese Beauty Habits
  • Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream is Japan's best-selling medicated, vitamin-enriched skin cream and has been for many generations. It is a glycerin based cream that is used for everything from diaper rash to stretch marks! Japanese women use it on their faces.
  • Japanese women partake in regular face massages. Massage of the face keeps wrinkles away, improves circulation, lessens stress, and keeps the skin more elastic. TANAKA FACIAL MASSAGE
  • Since the 16th century, Japanese women have been shaving their entire faces every morning. This is one reason they have such silky, smooth skin.
  • Kojic acid is a by-product, which is produced during the fermentation of Sake, the rice wine, of Japan. In little quantities, it is a skin whitener in Japanese cosmetics. There is another natural product, which is used extensively in Japan to cure acne: Camellia oil. They start using this oil as children, and continue it's use into adulthood. Not only does it give smooth and moisturized skin, but it stops acne from ever occurring. They also use it on the hair for silky, healthy hair!
  • Azuki (Red Bean) powder is traditional skin care used by Japanese women for over 1200 years. It gently exfoliates, deep cleans pores, and moisturizes.
  • Studies have shown that Kelp (Phytessence Wakame) helps the skin's elasticity. The Japanese use this seaweed often. Phytessence Wakame works by preventing or blocking the hyaluronidase enzyme from breaking down the useful hyaluronic acid, another naturally found substance which is essential to maintain skin elasticity. Hyaluronic acid is the main component which enables us to keep our skin free of problems and prevent signs with respect to aging.
  • The Japanese skin care methods include special knowledge of skin cleansers called exfoliants. In Japan, after the skin is exfoliated, the new, youthful skin gets treated with moisturizers and pore-tightening botanical oils. Adzuki beans, rice bran, clays that are rich in minerals, powdered sea vegetables, and powdered herbs such as ginseng are used as exfoliants (the herbs and vegetables also act as toxin expectorants). Jojoba oil, Camellia oil, Aloe Vera, apple cider vinegar, and herbal teas are used to moisturize and oil the skin.
  • Nightingale droppings have a natural enzyme that has been used for facial treatments for centuries untold. Nightingale droppings are a valued cosmetic and facial treatment in Japan. Known and sold by the name of Uguisu No Fun (really) the word derives from name of the bird. Since ancient times Japanese women maintained their silky white skin and lustrous flowing silky hair with natural products created from the droppings of this lovely songbird.
