DIY: Make your own Beauty & Anti-Aging Products

The rage these days is to create your own beauty products right from home to help everything from acne to wrinkles.

Whether you are buying the ingredients online (see below) or using what you have in your fridge, it doesn't matter, this is an excellent way to go! Not only is it relatively inexpensive, but also you aren't contributing as much to a consumer society.
If you look at any of your cleansers, moisturizers, or anti-aging creams, possibly you may find ingredients in them that are already in your fridge. You may even find a few ingredients in these store-bought creams that you can't pronounce, or ones that aren't suited for your skin type. Wouldn't it be nice to customize your own beauty products? Leave out the harmful ingredients and put in the ones that your skin loves. And spend a lot less while you're at it.

Another advantage is that you can make small batches, so you're always using a fresh product for maximum effects.

It's time to get back to a simpler time and to trust in nature, and yourself.
I'm a proponent and user of DIY skincare and I can promise you that it's easy and it's fun!

A Few Household Items that Offer Excellent Skin Benefits

Turmeric
- powerful antioxidant, it can help even out skin tone and reduce pigmentation. It also softens the skin, leaving it smooth, and glowing.

Manuka Honey-antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. Great for acne, and keeping moisture in the skin. Supposedly increases collagen in the skin. Is great for overall skin health.

Avocado- high in vitamin E and Vitamin C. Acts as a natural sunscreen. Triggers production of collagens in the skin. Reduces skin inflammation.

Stevia- especially perfect for those suffering acne and eczema. It softens and tightens the skin. Smoothes out wrinkles.

Coconut Oil- prevents premature aging of the skin, heals damaged tissue, and blemishes.

Simple DIY Vitamin C Serum

½ teaspoon l-ascorbic acid powder
3½ teaspoon distilled water (bottled water is fine, should be at room temperature)
1½ teaspoon propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin
1 amber or dark blue glass bottle
Instructions:
1)    Make sure your glass bottle is sterile by boiling it in some hot water. You can also sterilize it with some rubbing alcohol.
2)    Wait for the bottle to cool and dry completely.
3)    Add the l-ascorbic acid to the bottle.
4)    Add the distilled water.
5)    Swish around the bottle or use a stirrer until all the l-ascorbic acid is dissolved.
6)    Add the propylene glycol or glycerin (must be vegetable glycerin, however you can use Monistat Anti-Chafing gel if your skin is fine with silicones)
7)    Mix well (cap the bottle and keep shaking until everything is blended or use a stirrer) and use up as early as possible.
